Overview

The 20th Lichtbildarena already took place in November 2024, and the 21st is scheduled for November 2026. In 2025, a shortened format, the 'Explorers' Series Special 2025,' was held on the FSU Jena campus with individual evening presentations in a foyer format. The main festival returns in 2026.

2025 Season — No Main Festival

In 2025, Lichtbildarena Jena was held in a shortened format. Following the 20th edition in November 2024, the main festival was postponed to 2026 (21st edition). Instead, organizer Barbara Vetter offered an 'Explorers' Series Special' in 2025 with selected evening presentations and photo shows at Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße 19.

Format of the Explorers' Series

Compared to the festival weekend, the Explorers' Series is limited to individual evening events, each featuring one multi-vision or photo show per date. The foyer program and the cinema bus premiere are reserved for the main festival in 2026.
