Overview
In 2025, the Lausitz Festival again featured historical sites in Upper and Lower Lusatia with theater, concerts, and music theater. The selection of unusual venues — from churches to briquette factories to monastery ruins — is part of the festival's profile. In 2026, the vocal ensemble Basiani will perform in the Oybin monastery ruins, an international top ensemble in Upper Lusatia.
Lausitz Festival — The Tradition of Special Venues
The Lausitz Festival was founded in 2020 and sees itself as an artistic platform for the bilingual Lusatia region. With venues in Brandenburg and Saxony — from major cities like Cottbus and Görlitz to villages like Herrnhut, Domsdorf, or Oybin — the festival combines cultural significance with spatial diversity. In 2025, the Oybin monastery ruins were one of the venues. For 2026, they will open their doors on September 15 for the Georgian vocal ensemble Basiani.
