Overview

The 183rd Laurentiuskirmes 2025 took place as usual from Saturday to Tuesday around St. Lawrence's Day (August 10th) on Konrad-Adenauer-Platz Bergisch Gladbach. It began with the showmen's fair in St. Laurentius and a keg tapping ceremony on the festival grounds, followed by four days of Volksfest with a Ferris wheel, carousels, and a food mile, concluding with the traditional fireworks display on Tuesday evening. The city of Bergisch Gladbach officially recognized the fair as Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2025.

183rd Edition and Intangible Cultural Heritage

2025 was the year of formal recognition — the Laurentiuskirmes was officially registered as Intangible Cultural Heritage by the city of Bergisch Gladbach. The program structure was the same as every year: showmen's fair and keg tapping ceremony on Saturday, four days of full operation with a Ferris wheel, dodgems, and the classic fairground on Konrad-Adenauer-Platz, and fireworks on Tuesday evening to conclude.

The registration as Intangible Cultural Heritage acknowledged the voluntary commitment of showmen's representative Burkhardt Unrau and the city of Bergisch Gladbach, who have maintained the fair as a central traditional event for generations. Konrad-Adenauer-Platz was, as every year, a magnet for thousands of visitors from the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis and beyond.
