The 16th edition of the Hamburg Kurdish Film Festival took place from November 19 to 23, 2025 — Motto: "Memory, Resistance, Vision – Cinema from the Heart of Diversity". 21 films from various Kurdish regions, opening with live music by Cemîl Qoçgîrî, guest of honor: Çayan Demirel.

16th HKFF 2025

From November 19 to 23, 2025, the 16th edition of the Hamburg Kurdish Film Festival ran under the motto "Memory, Resistance, Vision – Cinema from the Heart of Diversity".

The festival presented 21 films — feature films, documentaries, and short films — from various Kurdish regions. Opening: Live music by Cemîl Qoçgîrî, opening film "The Virgin and Child". The guest of honor was documentary filmmaker Çayan Demirel. Festival party on Saturday with Mastika Sounds from 9 PM.

Venues 2025: ZEISE KINOS (Friedensallee 7–9), 3001 Kino (Schanzenstraße 75), Haus 3 (Hospitalerstraße 107), Mut! Theater (Amandastraße 58). Jury 2025: President Sahim Omar Kalifa (Kurdish director), Kasım Ördek (director), Zübeyde Bulut (actress).
