Kreiz Kirwa Kastl — Edition 2025

The Kreiz Kirwa 2025 in Kastl, as every year, offered a dense Kirwa program: erection of the Kirwabaum by the young men of the association, festive church service on Sunday followed by Frühschoppen in the festival tent, traditional Oberpfalz delicacies for lunch, and dancing around the Kirwabaum on Sunday afternoon.

The dancing around the tree is the heart of every Oberpfalz Kirwa: the Kirwapaare — young unmarried men and women from the village in traditional costume — dance around the tree, led by the reigning Oberkirwamoidl and Oberkirwabou. A bouquet is passed from couple to couple, and the last couple becomes the new Oberkirwa couple for the coming year. A tradition that has remained alive in the Lauterachtal valley and is passed down from generation to generation.
