The 25th edition of the kontrast Filmfest took place in February 2025 at the ZENTRUM Bayreuth. In this anniversary year, the festival once again presented a curated selection of international short films from animation, experimental film, short feature film, and documentary, along with a supporting program.

The 25th kontrast Filmfest in 2025 marked a quarter-century of short film culture in Bayreuth. At the ZENTRUM – International Youth Culture Centre, the volunteer-run Bayreuther Filmfest e.V. once again showcased a diverse selection of international short films, ranging from animation and experimental film to documentaries and short feature films. Children's film blocks, an expert lecture, a music and visual performance, and the Filmfest party with an awards ceremony rounded off the anniversary program, confirming kontrast as a firm fixture in the cultural calendar of Upper Franconia.
