Overview

The 19th edition of the kontakt cultural festival took place again in 2025 at the Metalluk grounds in Bamberg. Four days of programming featuring live music (with local bands like Pippa, Schmitts Katze, Paralyzed, Sorah, Fatigue), DJ sets, theatre, dance, art, workshops, and discussions once again attracted around 20,000 visitors. The festival remained true to its volunteer-run model and free admission – despite growing financial and spatial challenges.

The 19th edition was the last before the 20th anniversary and was already marked by preparations. Despite the cultural policy debate surrounding the preservation of the Metalluk grounds, the festival could take place in its usual form – with the typical Bamberg mix of bands, DJs, art, theatre, dance, workshops, and talks.

Support Model

The completely volunteer-run organizational model proved its worth again in 2025. The plenum of artists, cultural practitioners, and activists from Bamberg's subculture supported the festival, which operates without major commercial sponsors and is financed through donations, beverage sales, and self-initiative. The expectation of 20,000 visitors was met again.
