From Competition to Coronation
The Königsschießen is about the symbolically most important award of the shooting year: the royal title. In Duingen, the marksmen and markswomen meet in the evening at the Schützenhaus. In the sporting part, the decisive shot determines who will be the queen or king in the new club year.
Festive Proclamation
Following the competition, the festive proclamation takes place: the new dignitaries are presented by the board, adorned with chains and insignia, and introduced to their office to the applause of the audience. The ceremony is often accompanied by musical contributions and speeches. Afterwards, the club and the new king invite guests for a social gathering.
Duingen, Shooting Tradition, and Pottery Town
Duingen is known far beyond its pottery production in the Leinebergland. The 1954 Rifle Association cultivates shooting traditions as an important part of the village festival culture. The Königsschießen is the event where this becomes most visible.
