Overview
The 51st edition of the Königsforst Marathon in March 2025 once again brought thousands of trail runners from all over Germany to Bergisch Gladbach. Three distances (Ultra 63.3 km, Marathon 42.2 km, Half Marathon 21.1 km), through one of North Rhine-Westphalia's largest forest areas. CO2-neutral event with staggered starts and a sustainability-oriented concept. TV Refrath, as the voluntary organizer, drew a positive conclusion.
The 2025 Königsforst Marathon continued the tradition alive since 1973. The hilly forest course through the Königsforst, with Monte Troodelöh as the highest point, challenged the runners while offering one of the most beautiful marathon experiences in the Rhineland scenically.
The CO2-neutral concept since 2018 has proven successful — own drinking cups, regional suppliers, climate protection measures. The Königsforst Marathon is thus a model for sustainable marathon organization in Germany.
