Overview

In 2025, the Kleist-Festtage Frankfurt (Oder) once again filled the Kleist Forum and Kleist Museum for a week with world premieres, guest performances, readings, and the awarding of the Kleist Sponsorship Prize. The festival, with a tradition dating back to 1991, reaffirms its status as the most important stage for the work of Heinrich von Kleist.

The 2025 Edition

In 2025, the festival continued its programme of new theatre productions, guest performances, intellectual engagement with Kleist, and German-Polish encounters. With the Kleist Sponsorship Prize, a young dramatic voice was once again honoured, whose play received a guaranteed world premiere at the Kleist Forum.

A Festival with Profile

The Kleist-Festtage consistently connect Kleist's work with contemporary theatre practice. The hosts, Kleist Forum and Kleist Museum, create an unusual combination of stage and archive — thus establishing a festival profile that is unique in the German-speaking world.
