Overview

In 2025, the Burschenverein Eichenlaub Ponholz once again invited to the traditional Upper Palatinate Kirwa on the last weekend of August. The Kirwabaum-Steckung, a parade of Kirwa couples in traditional costume, and the Austanzen des Mailgerls characterized the festival at the district's festival grounds.

The 2025 Kirwa continued the Upper Palatinate festival tradition unchanged. On the eve of the festival, the young men erected the Kirwabaum using traditional manual labor — a discipline passed down through generations within the Burschenverein. On festival Saturday and Sunday, the Kirwa couples gathered in traditional costume for the parade; the festival tent was well-attended on both days, with Burschenvereine from the Schwandorf district and the Upper Palatinate present as guests. The emotional highlight, as always, was the Austanzen des Mailgerls with the selection of the Oberkirwapaar for the coming club year.
