Overview

The Kirchweih Weißenberg 2025 continued the annual tradition — three days of Upper Palatinate Kirwa with 'Wecker' action, festive church service, Kirwa dance, and catering in the festival tent. The Weißenberg local community organized the festival together — from setting up the Kirwa tree to the traditional fetching of the Kirwa bush at the end of the festival.

The 2025 edition followed the classic Kirwa format. Villagers from Weißenberg, Edelsfeld, and neighboring districts, as well as guests from the wider Sulzbach region, contributed to the intense festival atmosphere of the small village Kirwa.

Kirchweihen in the Upper Palatinate tradition are not a tourist format but lived club customs. The Weißenberg Kirwa is a prime example of how a vibrant culture of customs can be preserved even in a small district — supported by the local community, the Kirwa lads and lasses, and the loyal festival-goer community.
