Overview

In 2025, the year leading up to the major 650th-anniversary celebration was a period of intensive preparation for Hof's church music. City and Deanery Cantor Dr. Ludger Stühlmeyer developed the concept for the church music festival, invited guest organists and composers, curated the approximately 20 events for 2026, and worked on the scholarly research into Hof's organ history, culminating in the rediscovery of the 12th-century chorale. In parallel, the regular annual church music program continued in Hof's churches.

Preparation for the Anniversary

In 2025, intensive work was carried out behind the scenes for 2026. The examination of historical manuscripts in Hof's parish archives led to the rediscovery of the 12th-century chorale – the piece that would be heard again for the first time in about 500 years at the opening service in 2026. The program, patronage (Joachim Herrmann), exhibition concept, and funding were finalized.

Regular Church Music

Concurrently, Hof's parishes continued their regular annual church music program – with Advent concerts, performances of the Christmas Oratorio, Good Friday music, and summer organ series.
