Overview

The Kipfenberg Limes Festival 2025 again took place in mid-August in the Altmühl Valley, drawing thousands of visitors to the small market town on the UNESCO World Heritage Limes. Four days of festival with the march of Romans and Germans, the Limes Queen, the Geißbrunnen morning pint on Saturday, and the traditional historical parade on Sunday afternoon with groups from all over Europe.

The 2025 Limes Festival followed its established four-day format. The festival tent on the fairgrounds was fully occupied, and the historical groups impressed with their camps, demonstrations, and costumes. The Geißbrunnen morning pint on Saturday morning is a fixed date for regular visitors and locals: brass music plays as people toast with the specially produced Limes glasses.

The historical parade on Sunday remains the emotional centerpiece: the Limes Queen on her Roman chariot, followed by formations of legionaries, Germanic warriors, medieval groups, and Bavarians. Anyone familiar with the Altmühl Valley knows that Kipfenberg is almost impassable this weekend.
