Overview

The Kinderzeche Dinkelsbühl 2025 was celebrated, as every year, around the third Monday in July. Over 1,100 participants — many children and young people from Dinkelsbühl — shaped the seven festival play performances, the grand procession, and the historical reenactment of the Free Imperial City with its Swedish camp. The Kinderzeche once again confirmed its status as one of Germany's most significant heritage festivals and UNESCO cultural heritage.

The 2025 edition followed the established pattern: opening weekend with the first festival play performances, the grand procession on Sunday, a mid-week break with Free Imperial City scenes and the Swedish camp, and a second festival weekend with further performances. The festival play — performed in the Schranne — attracted, as every year, several thousand spectators from home and abroad.

Looking ahead to 2029 — the 400th anniversary — the festival will increasingly be highlighted in the tourism efforts of Middle Franconia in the coming years. The foundation for preserving the traditions of the Kinderzeche, the city of Dinkelsbühl, and the district of Ansbach have been planning the anniversary for years.
