Overview

The 2025 season of the KinderMusikTheater Open Air Festival took place from June to September 2025 at the open-air stage of the Spandau Citadel. The program again offered a curated selection of German-language children's culture acts — singer-songwriters, musical theatre ensembles, circus comedy — spread across nine morning performances. School classes and families filled the rows of seats under the fortress walls, with the 45–60 minute duration fitting the attention span of the young target audience. The positive response led to the direct programming of the 2026 season with a similar format.

The 2025 season continued the now-established format: around nine morning performances spread from June to September, featuring artists from the German-language children's music and musical theatre scene. The open-air stage of the Spandau Citadel provided the extraordinary setting as in previous years — historic fortress architecture as a stage backdrop, natural scenery with old trees, and a summer atmosphere. With this season, KinderMusikTheater Berlin confirmed its status as a central Berlin address for open-air children's programming and laid the groundwork for the 2026 follow-up.
