Overview

In 2025, the KiezWeihnacht in Samariterkiez, as in previous years, took place over the 2nd and 3rd Advent weekends. Approximately 60 stalls, an accompanying programme in the Samariterkirche, and a children's craft workshop characterised the four market days. The business network 'Die Friedrichshainer' and the Samariter-Galiläa church community jointly organised the festival.

The 2025 edition confirmed the KiezWeihnacht as a reliable date in Friedrichshain's Advent calendar. The market was well-attended on all four days; the audience was a mix of locals and Berliners who specifically seek out the smaller, more local Advent markets away from the large tourist events.

The tradition of this event now spans over ten years. In the state of Berlin and the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg borough, the KiezWeihnacht is one of the most prominent examples of how local business networks and church communities can jointly sustain an Advent market without falling into the commercialisation spiral of city centre markets.
