Overview

The Kieler Umschlag 2025 took place from February 27th to March 2nd — four days of historical folk festival in the city center with a medieval fair at Alter Markt, a pirate village at Asmus-Bremer-Platz, and a craft tent at Holstenplatz. Opening with the traditional awakening of Asmus Bremer and flag-raising. Classic Sunday shopping to conclude the festival.

50th Anniversary of the Revival

In 2025, the Kieler Umschlag celebrated the 50th anniversary of its revival in 1975. The format remained tried and tested: four days of folk festival across three venues with a medieval fair, a pirate village, and a craft tent, plus the traditional opening parade and the Sunday evening farewell.

Programme

The 2025 edition followed the classic format: opening on Thursday afternoon, continuous market opening Thursday–Sunday, festival conclusion on Sunday evening.
