In 2025, Kevelaer was once again a magnet for families and pilgrims from the Lower Rhine and neighboring Netherlands during the Advent season. A living nativity scene and nativity plays in the Forum Pax Christi, stalls on Kapellenplatz, and atmospheric lighting of the Marian Basilica characterized the scene.
The Kevelaer Nativity Scene Market 2025 continued its tradition of over 30 years: a living nativity scene in the Forum Pax Christi, regular nativity plays with Karl Timmermann, curated stalls on Kapellenplatz and Luxemburger Platz. The pilgrimage town once again showed how a Christmas market with religious roots can function without being intrusive. The blend of quiet moments in the Marian Basilica and lively market activity outside the halls made the visit an experience that deliberately stood out from mass Christmas markets.
