Overview

In 2025, the Karneval der Kulturen once again took place on the Pentecost weekend in Kreuzberg. Four festival days around Blücherplatz, crowned by the parade on Pentecost Sunday with over 60 crews. Free admission. Four stages, street food mile, Shanti Town, Karneval de Funk — the 29th edition once again attracted half a million visitors.

The 29th edition took place during the Pentecost period from June 6 to 9, 2025. The weather was mixed, with sun on Saturday and a rain interlude on Sunday morning — however, the parade on Pentecost Sunday started as planned from Frankfurter Allee.

The political climate of 2025 once again shaped the Karneval: crews addressed themes such as solidarity with Sudan and Gaza, the climate crisis, queer rights, and anti-racist mobilization. The Werkstatt der Kulturen curated the Karneval again in cooperation with Piranha Arts and the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district office.

Economically, the Karneval continues to rely on public funding — a discussion that has accompanied the festival for years, with the Berlin Senate as the main sponsor.
