Karneval der Kulturen

The 29th edition took place during the Pentecost period from June 6 to 9, 2025. The weather was mixed, with sun on Saturday and a rain interlude on Sunday morning — however, the parade on Pentecost Sunday started as planned from Frankfurter Allee.

The political climate of 2025 once again shaped the Karneval: crews addressed themes such as solidarity with Sudan and Gaza, the climate crisis, queer rights, and anti-racist mobilization. The Werkstatt der Kulturen curated the Karneval again in cooperation with Piranha Arts and the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district office.

Economically, the Karneval continues to rely on public funding — a discussion that has accompanied the festival for years, with the Berlin Senate as the main sponsor.
