Overview

The 2025 Kantate-Markt once again attracted visitors from all over the Rhön to Oberelsbach. A traditional costume parade, traditional costume bands, Franconian arts and crafts, and regional foods from the Rhön Biosphere Reserve characterized the market day in the Lower Franconian market town.

In 2025, the Kantate-Markt continued its tradition dating back to 1726. On Kantate Sunday, traditional costume groups and bands paraded through Oberelsbach, and the market with around 70 stalls ran from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. As every year, the focus was on Franconian arts and crafts — wood carving, ceramics, blacksmithing, basket weaving — as well as regional specialties from the Rhön Biosphere Reserve. Despite cool spring weather, the market remained well-attended; many families combined their market visit with a hike on the Heidelstein or in the Schwarzes Moor. Free admission.
