Overview

The 2025 edition of the Kalter Markt took place in January in the city center of Ellwangen, confirming the six-day folk festival format of Beat-Night, Kuttellauf, Sunday shopping, horse awards with a parade, Health Day, and market fair. Around 200,000 visitors came again to the Ostalb city. Organizer: City of Ellwangen. The edition was already marked by preparations for the 2026 State Garden Show.

In 2025, the Kalter Markt again recorded around 200,000 visitors over the six festival days. The parade on Monday remains the emotional core of the festival — thousands line the city center streets to watch the historical floats, horses, brass bands, and traditional costume associations pass by.

2025 was already marked by preparations for the 2026 State Garden Show: the city provided information about the relocation plans for the fairground, and the amusement ride operators were involved early on regarding the new locations. The Beat-Night, the horse awards, and the market fair remained in their established forms.
