Edition 2025 — KAAS & KAPPES

The 27th edition of the Dutch-German Children's and Youth Playwrights' Prize KAAS & KAPPES took place in 2025 at the KOM'MA Theater Duisburg. The award ceremony on February 22, 2025, once again honoured new dramatic texts from Germany and the Netherlands. The jury decided on the total prize money of €7,500, which was divided between the main prize and the emerging talent prize. Readings, laudations, and a reception rounded off the festival day in keeping with the tradition established since 1999.

27th KAAS & KAPPES 2025 — Continuity of a Bi-national Format

The 27th edition in 2025 confirmed the format's consistency: a one-day festival with an award ceremony, readings, and discussions at the KOM'MA Theater. The Dutch-German bi-national programming remained the defining characteristic — texts from both countries were equally evaluated and awarded.

In 2025, the festival's sponsoring association, in cooperation with the KOM'MA Theater and the City of Duisburg, once again brought together theatre writers, publishers, dramaturges, and theatre professionals from Germany and the Netherlands — a continuous bridge between two national theatre scenes that would have fewer points of contact without KAAS & KAPPES.
