Overview

The 2025 Junggesellen-Schützenfest and Jakobuskirmes Breckerfeld continued the centuries-old tradition on the last weekend of July. The ringing of bells from both Jakobus churches opened the festival on Friday; the King's Shoot characterized Saturday, the parade Sunday, and the fireworks display on Monday evening around 11 PM formed the traditional conclusion.

The 2025 edition of the festival once again confirmed how deeply the marksmen's tradition and the St. James tradition are anchored in Breckerfeld's city life. The Junggesellen-Schützenverein from 1396 – one of Germany's oldest marksmen's brotherhoods – demonstrated with a four-day program that medieval customs and modern festival operations are well compatible. The Jakobuskirmes transformed the city center of Germany's smallest Hanseatic cities into a continuous festival mile with rides and food stalls.

Programme

Classic four-day sequence: Friday opening with bell ringing and tent party, Saturday King's Shoot, Sunday parade, Monday fireworks display.
