Five Years of Brehms Welt Under New Concept

In the summer of 2020, the museum reopened in its current form as "Brehms Welt — Tiere und Menschen" after eight years of renovation. Thus, 2025 marked a double anniversary: five years since the new concept and preparation for the 80th-anniversary celebration of the predecessor institution. Throughout the year, themed tours, special events, and an enhanced family program were held, translating the Brehms' ideas (animals as thinking, feeling fellow creatures) into modern behavioral research and nature conservation.

As early as 2025, plans for the new glass extension, to be inaugurated in 2026 for the anniversary celebration, were being finalized — a step that will finally provide the museum with barrier-free access and space for rotating special exhibitions.
