Overview

The 34th edition of JazzBaltica took place from June 26 to 29, 2025, in Timmendorfer Strand. 35 concerts, 21 of them free, offered a musical panorama around the Strandpark. Artistic director Nils Landgren focused on the accordion and trumpet.

The 34th JazzBaltica opened in 2025 with the special concert 'Mare Nostrum' at the Maritim MainStage, where Swedish pianist Jan Lundgren, French accordionist Richard Galliano, and Italian trumpeter Paolo Fresu have been weaving a European jazz style for twenty years — from classical, folkloric, and jazzy threads, Gallic musette rhythms, Sardinian melodies, and Nordic folklore.

Across the five venues, international stars from Europe, Africa, and the USA met young talents. Performers included pianist Michael Wollny, Grammy winner Magnus Lindgren and John Beasley, trumpeter Nils Wülker, guitarist Arne Jansen, kora virtuoso Ballaké Sissoko, cellist Vincent Ségal, and saxophonist Émile Parisien. From the younger generation, Mongolian pianist Shuteen Erdenebaatar, Cologne-based trombonist Janning Trumann, Armenian trumpeter Angela Avetisyan, and Ghanaian trumpeter and composer Peter Somuah impressed.
