Overview

The iT'Z Jazz Festival Coburg 2025 combined international jazz stars with local Coburg artistry. Highlight concerts: on May 18, 2025, Portuguese singer Salvador Sobral (ESC winner) performed, and on May 23, 2025, the Philharmonics of the Coburg State Theater with Thomas Quasthoff and Rüdiger Baldauf — a special combination of classical, jazz, and crossover. Venues: Ehrenburg Castle (Riesensaal), Globe Coburg, Kulturfabrik Cortendorf.

The 2025 edition brought two high-caliber names to Coburg: Salvador Sobral, the Portuguese singer and Eurovision Song Contest winner 2017, is considered today one of the most distinctive voices in melancholic-jazz chanson-pop. His performance in the Riesensaal of Ehrenburg Castle was one of the festival's most unusual concerts.

The second encounter — Thomas Quasthoff, German baritone with a classical and jazz career, together with trumpeter Rüdiger Baldauf and the Philharmonics of the Coburg State Theater — embodied the festival's curation concept: classical meets jazz in the Riesensaal, supported by the house orchestra.

With this edition, the Coburg jazz scene and Coburg Jazz e.V. once again proved that even a medium-sized town in Upper Franconia can attract international jazz talent — when the support association, municipal funding, and the historic venues work together as a framework.
