Overview

The 31st International Short Film Week Regensburg took place in March 2025, once again bringing hundreds of short films from around the world to the venues of the UNESCO World Heritage city. International, German, and Bavarian competitions, as well as thematic specials and retrospectives, made Germany's oldest short film festival a key industry meeting point in the first half of March.

The 31st edition seamlessly continued the festival tradition established in 1994. Over 50 programmes featuring around 250 short films — feature films, documentaries, animation, experimental films — were shown at the central venues: Filmgalerie Leerer Beutel, Ostentor Kino, Wintergarten, and Filmtheater W1.

The Arbeitskreis Film Regensburg e.V. organised the festival with funding from the FilmFernsehFonds Bayern. Competitions, the awards ceremony, the Zündfunk party, and informal industry discussions marked the eleven festival days. This once again underscored Regensburg's position as Bavaria's second most important film city after Munich.
