Overview

The 26th edition of the International Puppet Theatre Festival Elbe-Elster took place as tradition dictates in September 2025. Over 20 national and international companies performed at more than 40 venues in the Elbe-Elster district, with the fixed highlights of the opening in Finsterwalde, the "Long Night of Puppet Theatre" in Doberlug-Kirchhain, and the Kasper Café in Bad Liebenwerda. Organized by the Central German Marionette Theatre Museum.

Puppet Theatre Festival 2025 in Retrospect

In September 2025, the International Puppet Theatre Festival Elbe-Elster once again transformed the south of Brandenburg into a ten-day stage for marionette, shadow, object, and performance theatre. Over 20 companies from Germany and several European countries performed at more than 40 venues in the district.

The established highlights — the opening in Finsterwalde, the "Long Night of Puppet Theatre" in Doberlug-Kirchhain, and the Kasper Café in Bad Liebenwerda — structured the program as in previous years. Organizer: Central German Marionette Theatre Museum Bad Liebenwerda. The festival once again confirmed its status as one of Germany's most traditional puppet theatre festivals.
