Overview

The International Literature Festival Graal-Müritz was first held in 2024. The 2nd edition follows in 2026 (September 22–27, 2026). The festival was not held in 2025 — Bebelplatz e.V. and Tourismus- und Kur GmbH concentrated their resources on preparing the 2nd edition in 2026.

Pause Year 2025

After the successful premiere of ilgm in 2024, Bebelplatz e.V. and Tourismus- und Kur GmbH Graal-Müritz decided not to hold the festival in 2025, but to intensify preparations for the second edition in 2026. This allowed for a conceptual deepening and the securing of international partnerships with the Jan Michalski Foundation, the Foundation for German-Polish Cooperation, and cultural institutes of the Baltic Sea rim states.

The literary tradition of Graal-Müritz remained alive during this time through the annual literature week in June (organized by Tourismus- und Kur GmbH).

Programme

No separate festival edition in 2025 — a deliberate break for preparation for the 2nd edition in 2026.

Highlights

  • Premiere successfully held in 2024
  • Preparation break in 2025 to strengthen international partnerships
  • 2nd edition in 2026 with Boualem Sansal and Eastern European focus
