Overview

The International Jazz Festival Münster 2025 took place, as every year, at the beginning of January, confirming its role as one of the most important jazz festivals in Northwest Germany. With contemporary jazz acts from Europe, jam sessions at the Theater Münster, and improvisation concerts in sacred spaces, the festival offered a dense program for the international jazz community.

The 2025 edition continued the almost five-decade tradition of the International Jazz Festival Münster. The Cultural Office of the City of Münster, as organizer, has maintained the connection to the international jazz scene since 1979, and Münster has established itself as one of the most important meeting points for contemporary, improvised jazz in Northwest Germany. From the experience of previous years, the Shortcut concept for 2026 emerged — a concentrated special edition that prepares for the main festival and offers the festival character in a compressed form in January.
