Overview

The International Choral Festival 2025 in Finsterwalde once again brought together hundreds of singers at the Kulturweberei. With the UNESCO recognition of the Finsterwalde singing tradition as intangible cultural heritage of Germany (2024), the festival approached with particular confidence — free admission, pro-agro regional market, and a dense concert program from Brandenburg, Saxony, and the Czech Republic.

The International Choral Festival 2025 took place in the courtyard of the Kulturweberei Finsterwalde and confirmed its format as one of the most important choral festivals in Brandenburg. The awarding of UNESCO status to the Finsterwalde singing tradition as intangible cultural heritage of Germany in 2024 had brought additional prestige to the festival. Around 500 singers from numerous choirs in Brandenburg and guest ensembles from Germany and abroad created a three-day program. A summer party by the Gebrüder Graun District Music and Art School marked the start, and the pro-agro regional market provided the audience with Lusatian specialties. Free admission.
