International Bach Festival 2025 – Third Edition

In April 2025, the International Bach Festival Hamburg took place for the third time. The Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach Academy programmed over 40 concerts, talks, and sing-alongs at Hamburg's major venues – Elbphilharmonie, Laeiszhalle, main churches St. Michaelis, St. Petri, St. Jacobi.

Works by all major members of the Bach family were performed, with a particular focus on Carl Philipp Emanuel's Hamburg years and Johann Sebastian's major oratorio works. International ensembles and soloists from across Europe performed; in 2025, the Bach Festival confirmed its reputation as a central North German festival for Early Music and Baroque music. The success laid the foundation for the growing expansion in 2026 towards the Hanseatic cities.
