Illschwanger Vituskirwa

The Vituskirwa 2025 proceeded in its usual tradition. On Friday, the Kirwaboum fetched the tree from the forest, decorated it with flower wreaths, and erected it on the village square. On Saturday, the festival tent opened with a beer tapping, and on Sunday, the Kirwapaare gathered for the festival service in the St. Vitus parish church and for the Kirwatanz in the afternoon.

The highlight — the crowning of the Oberkirwapaar — unfolded as always in a suspenseful choreography: the bouquet of flowers was passed among the dancing couples until the bell rang. The couple holding the bouquet when the bell rang took on the role and duties of the Oberkirwapaar for the coming year. With Frühschoppen and dancing, the Kirwa concluded until the Abkehraus on Monday.
