Edition 2025 — Hürtgenwald March
The 40th edition of the International Hürtgenwald March took place in August 2025 in Vossenack. With the wreath-laying ceremony at the Hürtgen war cemetery on Friday and the various marching routes on Saturday, the Association of Reserve Soldiers of the German Armed Forces continued the tradition established in 1986. Lectures and exhibitions accompanied the event.
40th Hürtgenwald March — Anniversary
In August 2025, the Hürtgenwald March celebrated its 40th anniversary. Since 1986, the district office VdRBw Eschweiler has organized this commemorative march to the battlefields of the Hürtgen Forest — one of the largest battles on the Western Front during World War II. The Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge reported extensively on the anniversary edition.
The 40th edition followed the established program: a wreath-laying ceremony on Friday, various marching routes on Saturday, plus a mountain bike route, lectures, and exhibitions. The event combines physical activity with historical engagement — a form of remembrance that has been upheld for decades.
