The Horchheim Traditions Association

The Horchheim Traditions Association (Brauchtumsverein Horchheim e.V.) preserves most of the Rhenish-Hessian traditions of the Worms-Horchheim district – Kerwe (village fair), Carnival (FastNightsUmzug), Maypole setting, and with the Weinmarkt, an independent wine event. The association was founded with the aim of keeping the traditions of the Worms district alive and passing them on to the next generation.

Worms-Horchheim as a Wine Town

Even though Horchheim is now primarily known as a district of Worms, the town has a distinct wine-growing tradition. Vineyards around Horchheim have been cultivated for centuries; the traditional Weingut Helmut Kloos has been based here for generations and is among the participating vintners at the Worms Market Winzers.

Spring Wine Market on the Market Square

The wine market on May 2nd, 2026, is a deliberately early-season event: While most Rhenish-Hessian wine festivals only take place in midsummer, Horchheim sets an early accent. The wines of the young vintage will be presented, along with aged wines from previous years and special rarities. Food will be provided with classic Rhenish-Hessian snacks – Spundekäs (cheese dip), Bratwurst (sausage), cheese platters, Strieselchen (sweet pastry).

District Atmosphere

The Horchheim Weinmarkt is significantly smaller than the large wine festivals in Worms, offering a particularly intimate atmosphere. Here, people know each other, meet neighbors and friends, and talk a lot. Small musical accompaniment – usually an acoustic guitar or a local combo – provides the fitting ambiance.

Kick-off for the Season

In the Worms event calendar, the Horchheim Weinmarkt marks one of the first summer wine market dates and ushers in the wine festival season in Worms at the district level. Anyone who wants to get to know Worms wines in a relaxed setting, without the crowds of large festivals, will find themselves at home here.
