Overview

The first edition of the Hohnstein Fairy Tale Sparkle took place in early 2025, establishing the new winter format at the castle and in the castle town of Hohnstein. As part of the regional cultural festival “Winter Stars Saxon Switzerland”, Saxon Switzerland was also enlivened in winter with fairy tale experiences.

1st Fairy Tale Sparkle 2025 — Kick-off

The premiere of the Hohnstein Fairy Tale Sparkle in early 2025 brought the idea to life: three days of fairy tale world in one of Saxony's most beautiful castles, combined with the specific winter atmosphere of Saxon Switzerland. Fairy tale dinners at the castle, guided fairy tale walks through the castle and castle town, puppet shows, and participatory theatre tested the format — with positive reception from the audience and regional press.

The positive feedback led to the scheduling of a second edition in 2026, which refines and expands the concept. The Fairy Tale Sparkle is part of “Winter Stars Saxon Switzerland” — a regional cultural initiative aiming to showcase the sandstone rock landscape both touristically and culturally during winter.
