Overview

The Historienfest 2025 was celebrated in July at Kirchenburg Ostheim v.d. Rhön. For two days, the association 'Freunde der Kirchenburg' presented old crafts, children's games, and a medieval music program. The historic complex with its double ring wall attracted visitors from the Rhön-Grabfeld district and neighboring Thuringia.

In 2025, the organizers again combined craft demonstrations and a children's program — wool processing, blacksmithing, bow making, and bread from the wood-fired oven — with the medieval music concert on Saturday evening. The latter is regularly the most popular program item and brings the entire castle grounds into a festive atmosphere.

The event is part of the regular annual program of the 'Freunde der Kirchenburg' association and uses the day's proceeds to finance the preservation and maintenance of the historic complex.
