Overview

The Historical Salt Train 2025 took place in July between Immenstadt and Simmerberg. As every year, around 10 wagons and 30 costumed riders moved from Immenstadt market square, via Thalkirchdorf, Oberstaufen, and the Hahnschenkel, to Simmerberg village square, where the Salt Festival began around 5 PM with catering by the associations and music from the Ellhofen and Simmerberg bands.

In 2025, the market town of Weiler-Simmerberg, together with the Weiler Tourist Information Office and the Historical Salt Train association, once again invited visitors to experience the reenactment of the old salt road. For several hours, the train traveled along the historical day's stage from salt factor town to salt factor town.

In Simmerberg, the supporting program opened in the afternoon with music bands, regional catering, and a festive reception of the train in the evening. The ceremonial handover of the salt to the salt factor and the subsequent Salt Festival were, as usual, the highlights of the day — a spectacular homage to the Wittelsbacher salt trading history of the Allgäu.
