The Historical Castle Festival Burghausen 2025 took place from July 11 to 13 as part of the 1000th-anniversary celebration of the town. The motto 'Burghausen in 1523' honored Duke Wilhelm IV and his wife Maria Jakobäa, with over 1500 participants within the authentic castle walls.

In the 2025 anniversary year, Burghausen celebrated its 1000th birthday with special fervor. The Historical Castle Festival was themed 'Burghausen in 1523' and honored Duke Wilhelm IV on the cusp of the Reformation. For three days, the five castle courtyards were the scene of a spectacle with a market, camp life, crafts, and courtly splendor. The event is considered the highlight of the anniversary program and attracted thousands of visitors from Bavaria, Upper Austria, and all of Southern Germany.
