Overview

The eleventh edition of the Highland Games Canstein attracted several thousand visitors to the Marsberg district again at the end of June 2025. The usual format with a warm-up party on Friday, competitions on Saturday, and pipe band accompaniment was enhanced by a slightly expanded concert program and an even larger whisky selection.

The 2025 edition of the Highland Games Canstein once again offered the full Scotland package in the Hochsauerland: caber toss, tug-of-war, stone throwing, plus "The Pride of Scotland Pipes & Drums" on Friday evening for the flag raising and several folk-rock concerts throughout the weekend. As always, admission was free and the camping area was open from Friday afternoon.

Well-attended despite the weather, with numerous newly formed clans from the region — the eleventh edition once again confirmed that the format of the small, volunteer-organized festival can carry its mix of sporting fun and Scottish folklore. The organizers thanked all helpers, bands, and clans on Sunday evening and immediately announced the twelfth edition for 2026.
