Overview

In 2025, around 300 runners once again gathered on Christmas Eve for the 10 km fun run through the Vessertal. The start was at 9:00 AM at the Schmiedefeld sports field on the Rennsteig — as every year without an entry fee, but with a collection for the youth work of WSV Schmiedefeld and the Tambach-Dietharz children's hospice.

Heiligabend-Lauf 2025 in Schmiedefeld

On December 24, 2025, the starting gun for the traditional Heiligabend-Lauf fired at 9:00 AM at the Schmiedefeld sports field on the Rennsteig. Around 300 runners completed the 10 km loop through the lower Vessertal — in winter conditions, with a mulled wine break at the refreshment station. Donations for the youth work of WSV Schmiedefeld and the Tambach-Dietharz children's hospice were collected in the finish area. The organizers were the GutsMuths-Rennsteiglauf-Verein, Rennsteiglauf Sportverwaltung & Tourismus GmbH, and WSV Schmiedefeld.
