Heidelberg Castle Festival

The 99th season of the Heidelberg Castle Festival ran from June to August 2025 – as a prelude to the 100th anniversary in 2026. The Heidelberg Theatre and Orchestra presented a mix of theatre, opera, and concerts at Heidelberg Castle across the three venues: Castle Courtyard (main stage), "Dicker Turm" (spoken word theatre), and "Englischer Bau" (chamber music). Over seven weeks, premieres with the Heidelberg ensemble and guest artists were staged. The mix of classical-romantic themes, contemporary productions, and opera productions with orchestral accompaniment confirmed the festival's reputation as one of the most important summer theatre events in Southern Germany. Thousands of visitors attended, including many guests from German-speaking countries and international tourists who were already visiting the castle. The 99th season laid the foundation for the grand anniversary year of 2026.
