Overview

The 2025 season of the Heidelberg Castle Festival took place in the summer in three venues within the castle ruins. As every year, the festival presented theater, opera, family theater, and Philharmonic Castle Concerts against the unique backdrop of the Heidelberg Castle complex. This edition was also the last before the 100th anniversary in 2026.

Before the Anniversary

In 2025, the festival ran for almost two months as usual in the Castle Courtyard, Dicker Turm, and Englischer Bau venues. The program included several new productions, family theater, and the traditional Philharmonic Castle Concerts by the Heidelberg City Orchestra.

Since its founding in 1926, the festival has had an almost uninterrupted history – interrupted only by wartime and the pandemic. The 2025 season was the last before its 100th birthday.
