Overview
2025 was the year of preparation for Havelsommer. The city of Brandenburg an der Havel involved cultural practitioners, associations, and citizens in a multi-month participatory process, developed the new festival format, and established the initial program structures. Individual pilot events took place in the summer of 2025 – such as the first stages on the Havel riverbank and concert series in courtyards, which were announced as "harbingers" of the 2026 Havelsommer.
2025 – Preparation and Pilot Formats
During the 2025 preparation year, the city of Brandenburg an der Havel tested individual formats that were to be integrated into the Havelsommer umbrella structure from 2026 onwards. Citizen participation events, workshop discussions with cultural practitioners, and a branding process (logo, brand values, program structure) prepared for the 2026 premiere. Initial pilot concerts on the Havel riverbank and in courtyards showed that the decentralized use of the city area was viable.
