Overview

The 2025 edition of the Hattingen Old Town Festival still followed the usual concept with a large Bunker Stage as the central stage, the Sparkassen Stage at Kirchplatz, and a DJ area at Krämersdorf. Thousands of visitors from the Ennepe-Ruhr district and Bochum thronged the half-timbered old town over the weekend. The organizers, led by Georg Hartmann, used the feedback from the 2025 edition to plan a significant reduction in large technical stages and the new Kleinkunstbühne Steinhagen for 2026.

Old Town Festival 2025 — Transitional Edition Before Reorientation

The 2025 edition still ran with the classic stage concept from previous years: Bunker Stage as the technical anchor, Sparkassen Stage at Kirchplatz with local and regional bands, DJ Stage at Krämersdorf for House and Dance enthusiasts. Pentecost weekend atmosphere in the half-timbered old town, thousands of visitors, a mixed program of rock, pop, covers, and comedy.

Following the 2025 edition, Georg Hartmann and the city marketing team worked on a reorientation for 2026: fewer large-stage sound systems, more city character, a new cabaret area. This reform decision became visible in 2026 — and is also Hartmann's farewell program after 14 years of responsibility.
