Overview

The previous edition of Hart am Wind once again brought the best North German theatre for young audiences to Bremerhaven in May 2024. A jury selected productions from five federal states, which were performed at the port city's venues, supplemented by productions from the host institutions. As is characteristic of the festival, a youth jury decided on the prizes and evaluated the plays from the perspective of the young target audience. Accompanied by a professional program and an industry meeting, the edition confirmed the importance of Hart am Wind as a central biennial festival of the North German theatre scene for children and young people.

The 2024 edition followed the proven concept of the biennial festival: jury-selected productions from Bremen, Hamburg, Lower Saxony, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and Schleswig-Holstein, supplemented by in-house productions from the Bremerhaven host institutions. A jury of young people from the region awarded the prizes, thus placing the perspective of the young audience at the centre. A professional program and an industry meeting once again made Bremerhaven the meeting point for the North German theatre scene for young audiences.
