Overview

The 2025 Harburger Vogelschießen continued the almost 500-year tradition of the Harburger Schützengilde. The King's shooting, a festive procession through the city center, and the Zapfenstreich at the Schwarzenberg Schützenplatz marked the three days of the festival — a manifestation of the identity of Hamburg's Harburg district.

2025 Review

In 2025, the Harburger Schützengilde from 1528 once again celebrated its Vogelschießen — three days of tradition with King's shooting, a festive procession, and Zapfenstreich. Historical uniforms, music bands, and club banners marched through the center of Harburg, and the festival tent at the Schwarzenberg Schützenplatz served as a meeting point for marksmen and visitors.

The Harburg district, Hamburg's southernmost district south of the Elbe, preserves one of its oldest and most identity-forming traditions with the Vogelschießen — a deliberate counterpoint to the globalized event culture of the inner city.
