Eight pubs, eight bands, one city: the second Hammer KneipenNacht turns the city centre into a continuous concert stage
The Hammer KneipenNacht is a format jointly supported by the Office for Culture & Tourism of the City of Hamm and Stadtwerke Hamm, which transforms the city centre into a cohesive concert stage for one evening. On Saturday, May 30, 2026, starting at 6:30 PM, bands from the regional scene will perform in eight participating venues – each pub with its own profile, its own audience, and its own musical style.
Participating venues include: Enchilada, Sissi & Franz, Altes Brauhaus Henin 1516, westend, Hops & Spirits, Pirates – Hamms Rockbar No. 1, Alt Hamm, and Laterne – Kneipenkultur. The selection covers the entire spectrum of Hamm's nightlife culture: from Mexican restaurants and breweries to craft beer bars, student pubs, and classic rock bars.
At the eight venues, you'll find acts such as Any Beat Counts (ABC), The Black Suede Shoes, Freddy Pieper on Chairs, Sean & Stefan, The Dukes, One Good Reason, PEEWEE Bluesgang, and Cocker & more. The mix ranges from Rockabilly and Blues to Singer-Songwriters and Tributes, as well as classic Rock. Those who spend the evening in the city centre will experience eight completely different concerts in rotation – the distances between bars are short, and the atmosphere is that of an open-city night.
A clear mark of political and cultural policy: Admission is free, made possible by sponsorship from Stadtwerke Hamm. The bands' fees are also jointly covered by the city and sponsors. Thus, KneipenNacht combines two objectives: supporting local live musicians with fair remuneration and, at the same time, providing low-threshold access to live concerts for all Hamm residents.
KneipenNacht is part of the #h4 KulturSommer 2026, a summer cultural series initiated by the city, which bundles various open-air and city-centre formats under the hashtag #h4 (for 'Hamm vier' – the four city districts). The evening thus fits into a strategy that enhances Hamm – with around 180,000 inhabitants, one of the largest cities in the eastern Ruhr area and in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia – as a venue location. Hamm is located at the intersection of the Ruhr area, Münsterland, and Sauerland, and is increasingly scoring points culturally with its own formats beyond the major neighbouring cities of Dortmund and Bielefeld.
The organiser is the Office for Culture & Tourism of the City of Hamm, with Stadtwerke Hamm as the main sponsor. The event is part of the #h4 KulturSommer 2026 and follows the successful first edition in the previous year.
