Overview

The 2025 edition of the Hamburger Theater Festival once again brought the most important productions from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland to Hamburg. Four weeks of guest performances at the major stages of the Hanseatic city, featuring productions that caused a stir in the German-speaking theatre scene, once again confirmed the festival as one of the most important theatre highlights of the year in Northern Germany.

The 2025 edition continued the proven concept of the Hamburger Theater Festival: four weeks of guest performances at the Deutsches SchauSpielHaus, Thalia Theater, St. Pauli Theater, and in the Helmut Schmidt Auditorium of the Bucerius Law School. Productions from renowned theatres in Berlin, Vienna, Munich, and Düsseldorf attracted Hamburg theatregoers and audiences from beyond the region to the Hanseatic city.

The organizer was the Stiftung Hamburger Theater Festival, supported by donations, sponsorships, and ticket sales.
